Context
Chamberlain University offers degree programs in healthcare with a complex practicum component that students must complete in stages. High attrition rates during the practicum revealed friction in how students navigated requirements and tracked progress.
Problem
Students were dropping out or delaying graduation due to unclear expectations and fragmented communication during the practicum phase. Existing handbooks were dense and inaccessible, and the student portal offered no clear support or content to guide them
My Role
As the content lead, I worked alongside product managers, UX designers, legal, and academic stakeholders to redesign the content strategy and UX for this critical portion of the student experience.
Process
- Conducted stakeholder interviews and user research to uncover key friction points.
- Collaborated in Figma to design a new dedicated practicum section within the student portal.
- Created a four-stage milestone model to help students map their progress.
- Revised practicum handbooks for clarity and compliance.
- Authored a UX style guide to ensure consistency across portal content and documentation.
